Learning
the sad news about the death of the excellent and offbeat actress Karen Black
two days ago made me pick up the pen and draw this caricature in tribute to her
and her unique features. She was a real fixture on the big screen during the “Easy
Riders, Raging Bulls” era of American cinema in the late ‘60s and ‘70s. One of
my favorite movies starring Black is the 1975 film, “Day of The Locust”, an adaptation
of Nathanael West’s satirical novel about struggling folks on the fringes of Hollywood,
a subject dear to my heart.
